In his Nov. 23, 2009 letter, Munson told Obama, “It has been my distinct honor and privilege to have been the chief judge for more than 21 years and shall always be grateful for the opportunity I have had to serve the people of the United States and the Northern Mariana Islands.”
Munson had been nominated by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 and re-nominated by President Bill Clinton in 1998, and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
