Man who stole a dead man’s belongings arrested

Lt. Aloysius Alonz said that the suspect burglarized the victim’s apartment in Sakurakai on August 14, 2009 and stole his belongings such as stereo, DVD player and air rifle.

Lt. Alonz said they manage to recover the stolen items and returned it to the victim’s mother.

Palau Horizon gathered that the victim engaged in a car accident that same day his apartment was burglarized.

The victim was a passenger of a vehicle driven by another person when the vehicle engaged in a car accident at the Long Island Causeway in August.

While the victim was at the hospital for treatment, the suspect entered his house and stole his belongings.

Meanwhile, Alonz said that the same suspect was also involved in other burglary incidents including the burglary of the house of lawyer Kassi Berg.

Berg’s house was burglarized sometime in July and the suspect stole rice cooker and wallet.

The same suspect entered other residences in Sakurakai area sometime in September and October and stole digital camera, cell phone, MP3 and cash money which is less than $50.

Alonz said they recovered some of the stolen items and some were already sold and remitted to the other country.

Meanwhile, Alonz said an ex-con and two other men were also arrested for burglary and grand larceny last month.

CID said the ex-con was a known criminal in Airai and he had been in jail for the same offense.

The suspect entered a residence in Ked, Airai sometime in October and stole DVD player, wristwatch, jewelry and remote control.

The suspect was also arrested on November 3. He was on probation for his burglary convictions when he committed another crime.

The two other suspects were arrested for grand larceny for stealing a generator from the IA Business Center in Madelaii.

The suspects were arrested on December 1.

CID recovered the generator which is worth over $1,000.
