Micronesian leaders discuss efficient energy consumption

The committee, which is made up of  members from Guam, the CNMI, the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau and the Marshall Islands, will vote to change its name to the Micronesian Energy Association.

Members also agreed to establish an interim secretariat, identify a permanent secretariat by its second year of existence, and have its bylaws drafted by the FSM with Guam serving as legal assistant.

Members want the association to be a hub for sharing knowledge and activities, allow for the creation of a regional energy road map, implement energy policies, and act as an advisor for committees and “green initiatives.”

CNMI Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and Guam Gov. Felix P. Camacho are among the Micronesian leaders attending the summit, which ends today.
