Court disqualifies 5 voters in N. Islands election case

Associate Judge David Wiseman already heard the testimony of at least nine witnesses whose votes were challenged by losing Covenant Party mayoral candidate Ramona T. Rebuenog, who is represented by attorney Richard W. Pierce.

Independent candidate Tobias DLC Aldan, represented by attorney Robert Torres, garnered 69 votes or one more than Rebuenog.

Rebuenog complained that at least 21 voters are not residents of the Northern Islands.

On Monday, Wiseman will look into the briefs to be submitted by Pierce and Torres, in connection with a motion to disclose in open court the votes cast by the challenged voters.

Torres argued that his client won fairly and revealing the votes cast by the voters will violate the sanctity of the ballot.
