The board consists of six members, and the results were as follows:
• Chairwoman – Herminia M. Fusco
• Vice Chairman – Henry S. Hofschneider
• Secretary – Isidoro T. Cabrera
• Treasurer – Jose T. Limes
The two other members are Elizabeth D. Rechebei, Ed. D, and David Igitol.
In addition, the board formed a special committee to be headed by Fusco, Hofschneider and Rechebei to lead the effort to update and revise the current law, with the goal of addressing community and business concerns and seeking comments about how the current law is working.
Zoning Administrator Victor Barrett said: “I look forward to working with the board and holding village meetings over the next two to three months to get the feedback required to update the Saipan Zoning Law of 2008. We want to make it more flexible and to address concerns expressed by the community, private sector, and the legislature. In particular I hope to meet with the Legislature soon to discuss their particular concerns and suggestions to make the Zoning Law more business friendly.”
The next regular meeting of the Zoning Board is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2010 on the second floor of the Joeten Dandan Building.
