Facebook page seeks help for Haiti victims

Zynga, the creator of games for Facebook, has opened the Zynga Haiti Relief Fund to give chance for its over 180 million active monthly players to make direct donations through its top three games — Farmville, Mafia Wars and Zynga Poker.

Players can purchase special items from the games such as the non-withering white corn within Farmville, a Haitian drum on Mafia Wars, and a special chip package in Zynga Poker game.

All the proceeds from the donations will be given to support the emergency aid in Haiti.

Other Facebook users can also support the fund by donating directly through Zynga.org.

If you can’t send monetary donations, you can donate your time by in playing any of the three Zynga games.

In Farmville for example, you can donate Farmville Cash which you earn from playing, or buy Farmville Cash online. Donations in Farmville can be 25 Farmville money which you can buy for $5, 55FarmVille money you can buy for $10 or 240Farmville money which you can purchase for $40.

Just click on the donation button in the games and choose your method of payment through credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Discover) or Paypal.

If you play Café World and Fishville, you can click on the Help Haiti button in the game to make donations. Players of all the other Zynga games on Facebook such as PetVille, Roller Coaster, YoVille, Vampires, Street Racing, Pirates, Dragon Wars, Special Forces, Fashion Wars, Blackjack, Scramble, Word Twist, PathWords and Sudoku can look for the link button to send their donations.

In October last year, Zynga’s 56 million users of FarmVille gamers donated $487,500 toward the welfare of children in Haiti in by buying one of the crops, the “Sweet Seeds for Haiti” in the virtual farm.

Zynga’s founder and chief executive Mark Pincus said incorporating the chance to help other people while having fun playing the games can make a difference and affect the lives of others in a positive way.
