Michael Garon from Boy Scout Troupe 902 in Garapan recited the scout’s law and oath with his fellow scouts before the proclamation was signed. He is the son of Willy Garon scoutmaster of Cub Scouts Pack 902.
Inos encourages everyone to assist in any way they can to make Boy Scouting Week successful.
Boy Scouts of America island director Calistro I. Reyes said “the Boy Scout membership drive is ongoing and several activities will follow after the proclamation signing as well as throughout the year.”
There are about 250 Cub and Boy Scout members on Saipan.
“We are still recruiting and hopefully by Feb. 13 on the picnic we are expecting more than 300 to come,” Reyes said.
Boy Scouting Meet will be held on Feb. 13 at American Memorial Park. On Feb. 14 there will be a special Mass to conclude the celebration.
Scouts from Kagman, Koblerville, Gregorio T. Camacho, Tanapag, William S. Reyes and Garapan elementary schools as well as Troupe 193 of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and with their scoutmasters attended yesterday’s proclamation signing.
