Flores is concerned about the vendors and concessionaires for the annual Liberation Day celebrations, which are held in the area.
Seman, for his part, reminded the board that the northern portion of the fishing base proper, where the Tuesday market is being held, has long been set aside for the proposed fishermen and farmers public market.
Last December, President Obama signed into law an omnibus appropriations measure that included $200,000 for the design and construction of the Garapan public market.
The proponent of the amusement part, businessman Tony Glad, said in a telephone interview that he will look into the public’s concerns.
According to Zoning Board Vice Chairman Henry Hofschneider, most of those who spoke during the public hearing were in favor of Glad’s proposal.
More than 10 individuals attended the public hearing at the board’s office in Dandan.
Some of them said the project will benefit the youth.
Former Rep. Daniel Quitugua, and Dr. Larry Hocog were among those who attended the hearing.
Hofschneider said the board will review the proposal.
Zoning Planner Therese Ogumoro, remains the acting administrator, since Zoning Administrator Victor Barrett “is still off-island on personal business.”
Ogumoro said Glad’s application is scheduled to be entertained by the board during its regular meeting on Jan. 14, at, 6 p.m., in their conference room.
