Camacho wins Tanapag Geographic Bee

She is a fifth grade student and her favorite subjects are science and language arts.

“I studied hard for the competition,” she said.

Camacho will take the written qualifying test to compete for advancement to the state level.

“I’m taking home books to study,” she said.

She competed in the final round with fourth-graders Jovanny Iderbei, Tannika Hossuin, Rinisha Torres and David Rios, fifth-graders Daniele Manzanades, Juan Quitugua Jr. and Lucy Saito, and sixth-graders Kadi Camacho and Alex Gablinez.

The Geographic Bee, now in its 22nd year, tests the students’ knowledge in geography.

“This is a very educational and healthy competition. It let us know whether we are teaching up to the standards and whether the kids are actually learning what they need to learn about social studies,” said Tanapag Elementary School principal Francisca C. Ulloa.
