Sablan meets with constituents at local events

Setting up a booth complete with informational literature and calendars displaying the latest activities and accomplishments of his office, Sablan also spoke to residents about their concerns and shared some information about upcoming bills he has recently introduced in U.S. Congress.

He spent most of his time wandering the markets, walking up to residents and talking to them on the spot.

“I like how he had made this office so approachable.  We get to talk to him and learn about issues that are affecting us from Washington, D.C,” said local resident Janice Muna.

The popular item at the booth was the 2010 U.S. Congress calendar, which people snapped up pretty quickly.

“All of our local politicians should do this.  I think that it is great that he is making the time to come and talk to people here at the farmer’s markets,” said Sabalu Farmers Association president Tony Pellegrino.

Sablan started his “meet and greet” events last Dec. 29 at the Tuesday Night Farmers Market then held another one last night at the Thursday Street Market and the next event is tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Sabalu Market in Susupe.

“I plan to do many more events like these throughout the year.  Like I said earlier, this office is not mine, it belongs to our people and I am here to share about what we are doing to help better the commonwealth,” said Sablan.

Residents interested in meeting and speaking to Sablan are invited to come to tomorrow’s Sabalu Market in Susupe.
