Hard Rock to host Marianas Bikini Open

Event organizer Sharmaine Casquero said the event is a pre-Valentine presentation from Hard Rock Café.

“This is a charitable event and part of the proceeds from the show will be given to support the Marianas Island Nature Alliance in the CNMI,” Casquero said.

She said they are urging young people to participate in the event, which will also encourage them to get involved in environmental issues.

Casquero said there will be two screening schedules for the applicants.

“We will be screening applicants for the show from 8 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 8 and on Jan. 15 at Hard Rock Café,” Casquero said.

She added that, to date, 10 individuals have already filled out application forms.

To qualify, a candidate must be single, 18- to-26-years old, at least 5’3” in height, at least a high school graduate, have a pleasant personality and good moral character and, most of all, be interested in environmental concerns.

“Having a strong advocacy to take care of our environment is one very important trait that we will be looking for in our candidates,” Casquero said.

The talent show will be held at Hard Rock Café at 9 p.m. on Feb.6, a week before the coronation night on Feb. 12.

Casquero said that in addition to the talent contest and the question and answer portions, the contestants will showcase  formal wear, costumes made from recycled materials and other types of outerwear.

“We urge our young people to join, regardless of race and color,” Casquero said.

A fashion show and other entertainment numbers will also be featured during the event.

Entry for the show will be $10, inclusive of one drink.

Interested parties may pick up application forms at the Hard Rock Café or at ASKS Fashion & Salon in Garapan.
