San Vicente school holds fundraiser

Angelo Gabriel Manese collected the most number of pledges, 48, while Zachary Sasamoto did the most number of laps during the walk-a-thon — 113.

The second grade class of Kathy Pagapular had the most money collected.

“We had a good number of students and parents that came in this morning at 7 a.m. It was raining but we had a pretty good turnout because we sent out all the pledges before the Christmas break so we were able to get those pledges in,” said San Vicente Elementary School principal Joaquina DLG Salas.

Raffle prizes were  given away and different booths were set up by student organizations, teachers and other agencies.

“We are aiming at $10,000,” Salas said. “However, because of the weather, it is OK if we don’t meet the goal at least we collected some amount of money. We are trying our best. This is part of the annual event for San Vicente Elementary School. It’s like a family fun day for everyone.”

The Canary Walk-A-Thon is one of the school’s major fundraising activities so it can buy new playground equipment.
