Seaman admits misuse of federal license

U.S. District Court for the NMI Alex Munson set Drayton Crestwell Reeves’ sentencing for April 20, 2010.

A  presentence investigation report will be submitted on March 16, 2010, the court ordered.

Reeves, was represented by attorney Loren Sutton, when he attended the court hearing for his waiver of indictment, filing of information, and entry of plea.

Assistant U.S. Assistant Attorney Beverly McCallum prosecuted the case.

Reeves was charged with one count each of misuse of federal license and false statement.

In July 2006, the prosecution said, Reeves presented an expired marine merchant license which he altered  when he applied for a job.

In July 2009, Reeves told the U.S. Coast Guard that he had a valid merchant marine officer’s license, but it was not in its possession because it was under renewal.

McCallum told the court that Reeves’ license expired in 2001 and he altered it when he submitted it in applying for a job.

Reeves’ crime was discovered when his application papers, including his purported merchant marine license, was submitted by his potential employer to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Coast Guard.
