US Army takes over Camp Katuu

Outgoing CAT 01-25 who was in Palau for a seven-month deployment, relinquished its post to CAT 130-01.

Civic Action Teams presence in Palau started 40 years ago. The team’s function is to help and assist the Republic on its infrastructure development and improvement projects, medical services and other civic duties.

President Johnson Toribiong thanked the Navy team for its assistance during their tour of duty in Palau.

“Thank you to Civic Action Team 01-25 for a job well done. You have done a great service to our people,” Toribiong said.

He added, “hope you leave Palau with a knowledge that we are grateful.”

Sen. Alfonso Diaz, meanwhile handed over to the outgoing team the Senate joint resolution lauding their assistance to the country.

Outgoing Officer-in-charge Lt. Russel Dotson said, “Palau is home away from home. It is very difficult to leave.”

First Lt. Christopher Gensle, incoming Officer-in-charge said that his team “is honored to be spending time in Palau.”

“We are motivated and ready. We look through ahead for an experience of a lifetime,” he said.

This is the first time that an Army team is deployed in Palau.
