Yap holds bio-terrorism workshop

The workshop, which started on Monday, ends on Friday.

It will serve to update the state hospital emergency plan, share information on new technology, and other information on disaster issues.

The assistant secretary of the Department of Health and Social Affairs, Marcus Samo, and Bio-Terrorism Office Director Arthy Nena were among those who made remarks during the opening session at the Yap Small Business Development Center.

In his remarks, Samo thanked Yap for the warm welcome, assistance, and support that he and his colleagues have received since their arrival.

Nena, as project director, gave an overview of the workshop and what participants could expect.

The workshop discussed  health issues and an exercise plan for 2010, as well as updates and revisions on the pandemic flu plan.

Participants will also discuss  issues concerning the H1N1 campaign, medication, supply, international health regulations, and the 2010 Public Health and Hospital Summit. 

The workshop will end on Friday after a hazardous materials exercise.
