The RGA has been preparing with NMI golfers excited to compete in this year’s Micro Game and when they were told there will no golf event in Palau, it was not really a bad news to them.
In fact, RGA president Jordon Kosam said, the NMI golfers took it as a great opportunity to prepare for the next big event next year.
Having no off-island event to join this year, Kosam said, just gave them the chance to focus their efforts in coordinating the 2011 Pacific Games and train a team of golfers.
The Pacific Games happens only in four years, Kosam said.
Hoping that NMI can send a team in New Caledonia, the RGA plans to start the try outs at least one month from now. With this, NMI will have enough time to prepare the team of at least four or five golfers, and raise funds.
“We encourage our junior golfers to come and join the national team tryouts as soon as schedule is made available,” Kosam said.
The try outs, he said will come in six rounds.
And in line with this, RGA will coordinate a goodwill tournament that will include golf teams from Rota and Guam.
The RGA he added will announce later to other NMI golf organizations to come up with their own representatives for the 2011 Pacific Games.
