Donation boxes for Haiti victims in place

“We have put boxes at the airport and in some major stores, like Surangel, Topside Mobil Station and Payless Market,” said Soaladaob in an interview. “Aside from this, we’ve also put up an ongoing announcement in the papers regarding the fundraising.”

However, he said that those who want to get receipts for their donations, they can go to the office of the president or at the Compact Review office in Koror and make their donations directly.

Today, starting at 7:30 am until 5:30 pm, there will be a live broadcast over the radio about the fundraising drive. “Everybody is welcome to give whatever amount of money they can spare for the victims of earthquake in Haiti,” Soaladaob added.

At the end of the day today, they will turn over the collection to the Red Cross. “But people can still continue to give their donations to the Red Cross if they wish to.”

He said that the Red Cross will be the one to continue with the project. “We’re working side by side with them for this drive,” he said.

Although they’re not aiming for any specific amount for this particular drive, Palau is optimistic that it can help Haiti victims in its own little way.
