He said they have programs that need collaboration with the mayor’s office.
“We would like to see that happen because in the past, I believe if I’m not mistaken the mayor never worked with the council,” he added.
Diaz said he was assured by Mayor Donald G. Flores himself that “he would work with us hand in hand.”
On Rota and Tinian, Diaz said, the mayors and the municipal councils are working together.
“I want to copy that kind of leadership. No bickering just cooperation and friendship,” he added.
This year, Diaz said they will implement more programs like the Neighborhood Watch Task Force and village revitalization.
One of their concerns, he said, is the council’s annual budget, which is likely to be reduced.
“Our budget is quite low,” he said. The council only received $120,000 last year.
But he will not ask for an increase, saying that some programs of the council, like the Neighborhood Watch Task Force, can get federal funds.
