Ten students of Kagman High School, Saipan Southern High School and Northern Marianas College interviewed by the Variety said Gov. Benigno R. Fitial used his authority for his own personal benefit.
They are also frustrated with the judge’s decision.
“What happened must still be investigated,” Maria, NMC liberal arts student, said.
She said she has nothing personal against the governor “but the shame brought about by his illegal act tells a lot about abuse of power.”
“The fight for truth is not over,” said Kae Sablan, a high school student.
The students also believe that Fitial’s decision to pull out public health ads from Variety is “childish and is not appropriate for his age and status.”
“By doing that he is confirming the people’s accusation that he always wants it done his way,” said a student who declined to be identified because “my parents might be related to Fitial.”
Eric Borja, another student, said “the governor has not yet learned his lesson on ‘massage-gate’ so now he is trying to sabotage ads financed by the federal government.”
