CUC: Dandan power outage part of maintenance

The maintenance effort, he said, includes the replacement of the deteriorated pole hardware on the primary lines.

The power outage started at 7:30 a.m. and ended at 10:30 a.m.

Camacho said to minimize the number of affected customers,  the power was  momentarily de-energized from the San Vicente Loop at the former roundhouse location to the Dandan baseball field.

This was required to isolate the Kiya 1 circuit south of the Dandan baseball field to the Obyan area where the work was performed, he added.

The process was repeated at 10:30 a.m. to re-energize the isolated areas, he said.

The power interruptions were required for the safety of the linemen as they performed their work, he added.

On Feb. 21 and 27, there will be another scheduled power interruption, this time affecting  Kagman.

CUC will replace 150 pole top pins and insulators in the Kagman homestead areas, Camacho said.

The deteriorated pins installed 10 years ago have already exceeded their lifespan and must be replaced to reinforce the circuit, he added.

CUC is scheduled to replace one air break switch in the Kagman Mobil area.

According to Camacho, the replacement will provide the field crews the ability to minimize the number of customers inconvenienced by future power interruptions when necessary repairs are performed on the grid.

“CUC apologizes for any inconvenience the power interruptions may impose on the community and their consumers and will continue to work diligently to minimize future interruption,” he said.
