The United Workers Movement and the Pilipino Contract Workers Association collected a total of $420 during their fund raising drive.
The groups led by Rabby Syed, Jun Concillado and Ronnie Doca conducted a donation drive at the Microl intersection along Beach Road on Jan. 22.
Syed said all donations were collected from motorists.
They initiated the donation drive to help victims of the Jan. 12 Haiti earthquake that has claimed the lives of over 200,000.
Doca said they conducted the one-day donation drive from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Syed encourages other groups and community members to initiate similar campaigns.
“Even a one dollar donation will make a difference for people who badly need our help,” he said.
Last year, the two guest worker groups conducted a fund drive for the typhoon victims in the Philippines.
