75 percent police personnel attend the quarterly police inspection

BPS Director Norvert H. Yano, said not all were present because others are on duty, especially those who are assigned at the US embassy and patrol division.

The police inspection is a quarterly inspection held by the BPS and this was the first conducted for 2010.

The next police inspection will be held on May or June.

President Johnson Toribiong and Justice Minister Johnny Gibbonsattended the event. They witnessed the police inspection led by each division chiefs.

“The police inspection was very good. They were all in complete uniform.” Yano said.

Aside from the proper uniform, the BSP is working to have a physical fitness test.

Yano said they’re planning to do the physical examination with the help of Belau National Hospital to determine the right weight that should be maintained by each police officer.

Meanwhile, the Division of Fire and Rescue willreceive itsfire truck coming from the US Forestry Service in California, USA

The Director said the vehicle given by the US is in addition to the three fire trucks being used by the DFR.

Fire Division chief Benhart Baulechong, earlier said they are facing difficulties in performing their job, due to old fire trucks.

He said their fire trucks are more than 35 years and second hand from the USA.

With the additional fire truck, the DFRcouldprovidebetter services for the people.

The fire truck is expected to arrive by March or April, 2010.
