Grant writing workshop
(NMC) — Northern Marianas College, through the Division of Community Programs and Services’ Community Development Institute, is offering a short-term training course to those who aspire to improve their grant writing skills.
The trainers are Dr. Kelly Roberts and Mr. Bob Studdon, and the workshop will be held on March 16-17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the NMC board of regents conference room.

Awards banquet
(ESGR) — To support local businesses that employ members of the National Guard and Reserve, the Guam-CNMI Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve will hold its 1st Annual Employer Awards Banquet on Saturday, March 13, at 7 p.m. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m., in the Royal Taga Ballroom of the Saipan World Resort.

Red Cross walkathon
MOST people think of the Walkathon as a kids event but everyone is being encouraged to attend.
“For many years we focused mostly on school children, but this year we need everyone’s support and participation” said John Hirsh, executive director of the NMI chapter of the American Red Cross. “Walking is enjoyable regardless of whether you’re 2 or 82 and for a great cause like the humanitarian work of the Red Cross,” said Hirsh.
The 24th annual Red Cross Walkathon will be held on Saturday, March 27, on Saipan, Rota and Tinian.
For a $15 donation participants receive a t-shirt and mini first aid kit as well as refreshments supplied by the premier sponsors Coke, Subway and Foremost.

PUENGIN Inetnon will be held Friday in the Kagman Community Center parking lot. The Friday night market begins at 4:30 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. This week’s vendors feature Lynns Barbeque, Fong’s, Champs Shave Ice, and the Library Bookmobile.

Red flag at 2 Rota sites
(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality says water samples collected from Rota’s Coral Garden and Kokomo Beach contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria that exceeded the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.
DEQ has given these locations a red flag and advises the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of these locations for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified.
