Invest 92W could affect Marianas later this week

The CNMI Joint Information Center and the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Office advise the public that Invest 92W is being closely monitored as it continues to track toward the Mariana Islands later this week. At this time, fair and favorable weather conditions remain across the region through at least midweek, but conditions may begin to change Thursday afternoon into Friday.

The system is currently moving west-northwest at about 14 knots and is showing early signs of organization, though it remains broad and weak.

Forecast guidance continues to show uncertainty regarding the system’s exact track and intensity. Current projections keep the Mariana Islands, including Guam and the lower CNMI, within the area of concern, with a possible passage sometime between Thursday evening and Friday evening.
