Taiwan’s Ma arrives today for last leg of Pacific trip

This is the first official trip of Ma in Palau. The island-country is the last leg ofthe Ma’s Pacific countries’ tour whichhas diplomatic ties with Taiwan.

Ma has a packed itinerary during his two day trip in Palau.

The Taiwan president and his 90 –men entourageis set to arrive at 1 p.m today via a private aircraft.

From the Palau International Airportwill proceed straight to the Capitol in Melekeok State where he will hold a meeting with President Johnson Toribiong , cabinet ministers and members of the Olbiil Era Kelulau.

President Ma touredKiribati, Tuvalu, Nauru, the Marshall Islands,and Solomon Islands.

The president, after the Capitol tour will then proceed at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center for the exhibition of the Taiwan Indigenous Traditional and Modern Antiques and artifacts.

Ma’s itinerary will include meetings with his South Pacific counterparts on six issues — medical treatment, aquaculture, vocational training, agricultural cooperation, green energy and cultural exchanges.

His entourage included National Security Council Secretary-General Hu Wei-jen, Presidential Office spokesman Lo Chih-chiang, Foreign Minister Timothy C.T. Yang, Government Information Office Minister Johnny Chi-chen Chiang, Council of Indigenous Peoples Minister Sun Ta-chuan, and Council of Agriculture Deputy Minister Hu Sing-hwa.

Others on the delegation included some business and industry leaders for closer commercial interchange and business cooperation.

On the same day, Ma will also attend the goodwill games between the Palau baseball team and the Ku-Pao team.

The trip will not be complete meanwhile without a trip to the famous Rock Islands on March 27.

The visit by President Ma signifies the strong connection between the two allies for many years.

A huge welcome is being prepared by the Palau government.
