The volunteers include: Mr. Jajime Imahiro who worked with Palaris and specialist in land survey; Mr. Kota Kamitsubo in computer technology with the Supreme Court; Ms. Tomoko Udagawa who worked in elementary education with the Ministry of Education (MOE); Ms. Yoko Ando who worked with Koror Elementary School teaching math; and Senior Volunteer Tokio Nakamura who specialized in math education at the MOE.
These five volunteers arrived as early as on March 25, 2008 and will be returning home to Japan this month.
The five volunteers paid a courtesy visit to Minister of State Sandra S. Pierantozzi to express their thanks and appreciation to Palau for hosting them for the last two years. They also related some of their experiences, especially in their respective work areas, and made sound recommendations on areas where Palau could make further improvements. The also emphasized on focusing national attention on quality education for Palau’s younger generation as the most important investment for the future.
In return, the Ministry of State thanked the volunteers on behalf of the government and the people of Palau, for devoting two years of their lives in service for the Palauan people. With Palau and Japan’s very close and friendly ties, the Minister expressed hopes for the continued health and friendly relations between the two countries, and invited the volunteers to return to visit Palau in the future.
