CUC expect locals to replace its nonresident workers

“Part of what we are trying to accomplish is to train our local folks and hopefully by the time their nonresident counterparts depart, they are able to take over,” he told Variety.

He said CUC has a total of 303 personnel, of whom 30 are nonresident workers.

Of this number, 25 are assigned to the power plants on Saipan, one works for Rota’s power plant, and four are with the administrative offices.

Muna said all their nonresident workers have obtained their umbrella permits from the CNMI Department of Labor.

“We definitely make sure that even with federalization we are not precluded from getting qualified personnel on board,” he added

Right now, he said CUC has a sufficient number of personnel to run the operation, repair and maintain  its power plants.

“So far the operation is good,” he added.
