The election started from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Four polling precincts were designated by the PEC to cover the six hamlets of Airai States.
For the Ngchesechang and Oilkull hamlets, voting were held at the Ked Community Center. While the Ordomel hamlet was at the Baira Melengel and the Ngerusar hamlet was conducted at the Bair a Melacheb. For the voters of Ngeruluobel and Ngetkib hamlets, the polling precincts were at the Oberaud Center.
As of press time, only 20 percent of the 1,274 registered voters in Airai have cast their votes.
PEC officers, however, said the result of the election will probably be known today.
Candidates on the other hand, were continue campaigning during the election day. Carrying placards bearing their names waving along the high-way seeking support.
Incumbent Gov. Victoria “Vicky” Ngiratkakl Kanai was the only candidate for the gubernatorial seat. While 25 candidates for the legislature seats including the 12 candidates for the Legislature at-large and 13 for the Hamlet Representatives.
