Garapan school to hold reading activities

“Our ‘megaskill’ for the month is focus, and our expected schoolwide learning result is that students will learn to read and read in order to learn,” she said.

Many school activities for March will promote reading not only inside the classroom but also outside the school.

Last week, Garapan students celebrated “Dr. Seuss Week” by reading his books and learning more about his life.

Dr. Seuss, or Theodore Seuss Geisel, was an American cartoonist and writer known for his children’s books.

Mendez said students will learn about important women in history.

They can bring their old books that can be exchanged with those owned by other students.

They will also perform in the reader’s theater.

The school’s other reading activities include: “Absolutely Incredible Kids Day” on March 19; “Reading Craze Carnival” at the end of the month; and “Parent Literacy Night” on March 25.
