The teams from community groups, businesses, and government agencies have already pledged to adopt 14 sites for the islandwide destination enhancement days next weekend.
The cleanup is in line with the Environmental Awareness Month activities.
DEQ and other frontliners in the cleanup like Beautify CNMI are inviting more companies and organizations to get organized and join the activity or adopt a site.
DEQ said organizing a team is very easy and can be done by planning with friends or co-workers by simply walking out your front door and spending about two hours to pick up trash.
The DEQ area coordinator will provide supplies so all you have to do is show up with your team.
DEQ encourages the community to join the island wide cleanup to show the world that trash has a place and it’s not on a beach or park or street.
“Let’s work together for the health of our coral reefs and cleanliness of our beaches, and let’s make it a family day and show our children how important it is to put trash in its place,” DEQ stated.
The teams that have signed up include Laolao Bay Golf & Resort, the office of Rep. Joseph M. Palacios, Garapan Elementary School, DFS Saipan, Refaluwasch Club, Crime Stoppers, Saipan Seventh Day Adventist School, CNMI Emergency Management Office, Saipan Mayor’s Office, San Antonio Elementary School, Department of Public Works, Coastal Resources Management Office, Division of Environmental Quality, Calvo’s Insurance, Commonwealth Development Authority, SDA Dental, Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, Saipan International School, Kagman High School, , Stay Well Insurance, Coffee Care Restaurant, Vestcor, Manamko’ Center, Department of Public Health, Shell Gas and Grace Christian Academy.
