McDonald’s Saipan donates $6,000 to Red Cross

John Hirsh said he did not expect such a generous amount for Red Cross projects but was very glad to accept it.

“On behalf of the Red Cross NMI chapter, I can never thank McDonald’s enough for having us as the beneficiary of a fundraising project. I assure them that this will be used for the community who needs assistance,” Hirsh said.

He  expected the promo to be a “hit.”

“The people are not hesitant to buy products from a known brand such as McDonald’s and they know that at the same time, they are helping the Red Cross,” Hirsh said.

“The community has seen how we respond to meet the direct needs of victims in any calamities, manmade or natural and I would like to thank everybody for coming out to help with the Share-a-Meal promotion,” he added.

McDonald’s Saipan president and owner Joe Ayuyu also extended his thanks to the community.

“It was a huge success, and we are very happy to help the American Red Cross in any way we can,” he said.

The promo ran for the four Saturdays of June. Customers got huge discounts on value meals and were given a chance to drop raffle coupons for every $15 purchase they made. The donation to the Red Cross represented the 20 percent of  the proceeds during the promo period.

Lucky winners went home with attractive prizes during the raffle draw on June 26.

Also present to witness the check presentation yesterday were McDonald’s Hawaii’s president and managing director Veronica Kaneko, McDonald’s director of operations Martin Lau for Hawaii, McDonald’s Guam supervisor for operations Pacifico Martir, and Golden State Foods distributing manager Carol Guhl. The four executives arrived yesterday morning for a one-day routine visit.
