Rusty M. Loyola, operations manager, Ice Kiss Inc. which does business as Foremost Foods Saipan, said, “Milk is a vital part of healthy living. As we are supportive of wellness and healthy lifestyle, we would like to share this commitment with our elders at the Manamko’ Center and the convalescing patients at CHC.”
Loyola, along with Gerry Hemley, sales supervisor, Foremost Foods Saipan, visited the Office on Aging on April 14 to hand over 65 cases of low-fat milk.
Rose Mondala, director, Office on Aging, said, “We would like to thank Foremost for this donation of milk to our senior citizens. Milk is one of the things required, for these senior citizens to have at least 200 mg of milk every day. That is what we are giving for the homebound (elders) and (those in the) congregation.”
According to Mondala, the Office on Aging has been providing about 200 elders a day with milk and she emphasized the importance of milk in their diet.
“We are happy that Foremost is giving milk to the senior citizens here and I am going to encourage them to drink it because it’s good for them,” Mondala added.
Hemley, who coordinated with the agency, said he’s hopeful that through Foremost’s donation, they have emphasized the importance of milk to the daily diet especially among the elders who need milk to supplement their need for Vitamin D and calcium, among other nutrients.
Close to a hundred congregates were on hand to receive milk packs and listened to Mondala as she explained the importance of milk to their wellness. She also publicly expressed her gratitude to Foremost for choosing the manamko’ as recipients.
At the Commonwealth Health Center, Joe Tudela, food supervisor II for dietary unit, received 20 cases of low fat milk and expressed his appreciation for Foremost’s gesture of generosity.
“We really appreciate this. This is really nice of Foremost to donate milk to the patients. I am glad that you guys are doing this for the patients here and for the others,” he said.
