$8K in poker fees allotted for Rota dialysis patients

Now Public Law 17-7, House Local Bill 17-24 was introduced by Rep. Teresita A. Santos, Ind-Rota, to help 17 terminally ill dialysis patients. Each patient will get $300 this month.

The expenditure authority of this funding will be Rota Mayor Melchor Mendiola.

A legislative staffer from Rota expressed gratitude to Santos for coming up with the bill and to Inos for approving it, saying “this will make the families of the patients as well as the members of the Rota community, very happy.”

The local bill also appropriated $2,900 for the Rota mayor’s “special programs and projects,” but Inos said the poker, pachinko and slot machine license fees collected on Rota “do not support the full amount,” so he had  no choice but to line-item veto the provision.
