John Hirsh, the NMI chapter’s executive director, gave Briones one laptop for raising $752, the highest donation among the event participants.
His school also received gift certificates and packages for having the most number of walkathon participants, and for raising the second highest amount of donations.
SAES with 295 participants was able to raise $4,771.
Oleai Elementary School raised the most, $5,560.48, and was second in having the most walkathon participants — 288.
Garapan Elementary School had 156 participants.
Rita Ann T. Carreon, San Antonio’s chairwoman for the walkathon, encouraged students to continue supporting the annual program.
Hirsh and walkathon co-chairwoman Roxanne Ferrer also gave cell phones to 24 students who raised $75 and above.
Alannah Mae C. Sablan, also from SAES, raised $329.41, the seventh highest donation.
Other San Antonio students who received their prizes were Rhgen Cussoy Puntilar, Mae Indalecio, Jianalsa Dela Rosa, Eunice Omechelang, Davina Ann Aldan Magofna, Jericho Lambon, Frannie Nicole Songao Hocog, Joanna Gadrane, Paula Mae L. Francisco, Geraldine Dedios, Russkristian N. Dequito, Jeremiah S. Camacho, Brinae Jessilyn Cruz, Emelsha Cepeda, Stephen Barro, Raina Avelino, Christopher Aninzo, John Ichihara, Christopher Magofna Sablan Jr., Jayvon Taitano, Janasia Travilla, Shianalyn Lizama and Abigail Sablan Maratita.
The awarding ceremony was held at SEAS and was witnessed by school principal Katrina Lizama, teachers and other students.
