Public hearing set on Koror State measures

These three bills include: Legislative Bill (LB) no. 9-20, to require non-commercial fishing licenses for all Palauans who are not citizens of Koror; LB no. 9-22, to establish lease rates for public lands administered by the Koror State Public Lands Authority and LB no. 9-23, to establish a new Rock Island Management and Conservation Act.

Under the LB no. 9-20, states that any non- citizen of Koror engaged in non-commercial fishing the fishing license fee is $50 per month and for the citizens of Koror the license fee is $10 per month.

Meanwhile for the LB no. 9-22 also states that any non-registered voter and has leased in Koror will have rate adjustment which is bigger than those who are registered voters.

For the LB no. 9-23 states that all visitors and Palauan citizens are required to obtain separate permit in visiting Rock Islands and Jellyfish Lake.

For the visitors, the Rock Island Use permit is $25 and for the Jellyfish Lake permit is $35. While for the Palauan citizens the Rock Use permit is $10 and for the Jellyfish Lake is $15.

These permits are valid for ten days and non-transferable. Permits shall be available for the purchase from the Koror State Finance Office or designated agents.

The first public hearing is set on June 30. Traditional leaders and all citizens of Koror are scheduled to attend. While the succeeding public hearing which will be held on July 1, 2 and 5 are set for the other states.
