Ogumoro, Covenant-Saipan, is one of the members of the House-Senate conference committee that is drafting a budget bill acceptable to both chambers.
With her is House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Ramon S. Basa, Covenant-Saipan, Reps. Teresita A. Santos, Ind.-Rota, and Trenton B. Conner, R-Tinian.
Senate Fiscal Affairs Committee Chairwoman Jovita M. Taimanao, Ind.-Rota, heads the Senate conferees which include three other senators.
“We are doing our very best to make sure that critical services are delivered to the public. We are working on the review of the budget for fiscal year 2011,” Ogumoro told the Variety in a phone interview.
The conferees are scheduled to meet this Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
The Fitial administration’s proposed budget for FY 2010 was $137 million contingent upon the passage of austerity measures that will reduce personnel expenses by at least 12.5 percent.
The government continues to operate under the continuing budget resolution of $148 million.
Three different House bills seeking to implement austerity measures were killed one after another in either houses of the Legislature.
