He said they are not abandoning the project.
Victorino Cepeda, Northern Marianas Trades Institute education director, said they have already discussed with the Rota leadership the possibility of extending the trade school program to the island.
He said the institute can send instructors to Rota based on the courses that residents want to enroll in.
“The only thing they want from us is the instructor,” Cepeda said.
The institute can send an instructor on Saturday to conduct a whole day class, he added.
He said Rota has already identified a site for the training center.
Rota’s leaders want to see a training center on their island in anticipation of the establishment of the casino industry there.
In an earlier interview, Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola said Rota must prepare for the end of the CNMI guest worker program in 2014.
