Prahar was accompanied by Father Francis X. Hezel of Our Lady of Mercy Church and representatives from the FSM Veterans Association.
The day’s event included visits to the gravesites of the following soldiers and sailors: Sergeant Skipper Soram of Madolenihmw, Specialist Macbeth Lengsi of Nett, Specialist Cwislyn Walter of Nett, Private First Class Henry Paul of Kolonia, Seaman Apprentice Frank Yoma of Nanpohnmal, Specialist Richard Oliver of Nan Kepin, Sergeant Youvert Loney of Palikir, and Sergeant Raymond J. Hicks of Sekere.
During the visits, Prahar laid a wreath at each of the gravesites, and called upon the families of the fallen soldiers.
The Compact of Free Association enables Micronesians to serve in the U.S. armed forces, which they have done honorably since World War II.
Currently, citizens from the FSM and other Pacific islands serve in the U.S. military at a higher per-capita rate than U.S. citizens.
