CUC says number of personnel down by almost 50%

In 2005, CUC had 401 FTEs with only 51 vacant slots.

CUC human resources officer Frankie Cepeda said they are now trying to hire a deputy director for water and wastewater, a trade assistant, a meter reader, a laboratory technician, an in-house legal counsel and an accounting technician.

CUC has yet to announce the vacancy for the executive director’s position.

Antonio Muna, the current executive director, has resigned but will remain with CUC pending the hiring of his replacement. He is currently on leave.

As of June 30, 14 CUC personnel had left. They either retired or resigned, Cepeda said.

CUC also hired nine personnel this year, he added.

The reduction of personnel  resulted in “significant savings,” but it also required more overtime work, Cepeda said.

He believes that 350 is the ideal number of personnel for CUC’s operation.
