He said he has asked the Legislature not to include these personnel which, he added, hold “critical positions.”
Camacho believes that all government workers are essential to the delivery of public services, but there are those whose responsibility is “critical” to public safety.
He urged the probation and parole officers to meet with lawmakers.
Ursula Lifoifoi Aldan, chief probation officer, acknowledged Camacho’s support.
“People out there just don’t understand our role,” she said, adding that there are hundreds of offenders entrusted to their office which has few employees only.
