Those interested in furthering their education and advancing their professional careers are encouraged to attend this event to meet and speak with faculty and staff from the college’s different degree and certificate programs.
Counseling, financial aid, admissions, and other NMC staff will also be on hand to answer questions and to assist in the admissions and financial aid process.
The information session is open to everyone, including high school students and graduates, and their parents, government and private sector employees, international students, and members of the general public who are interested in learning more about the programs at NMC.
NMC offers several degree and certificate programs, including bachelor of science degrees in elementary education, associate degrees in business, business administration (emphasis on accounting, business management, or computer applications), liberal arts, nursing, natural resources management, criminal justice, and hospitality management. Moreover, it offers short-term certificate programs in different vocational, academic, and professional areas.
Green Meadow School open house
(GMS) — Green Meadow School is inviting the general public to its open house today, Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The open house is a special opportunity for the families of students who will be attending school year 2010-2011 at GMS, to ask school management and teachers question and to see the school facility.
Enrollment is still going for kindergarten classes, K3 to K5, and for elementary, 1st to 6th grades. The school also provides after-school care for a very reasonable service fee.

GMS has two new teachers: Bona Angeles and Romulo Badilles.
With over 17 years of teaching experience, Angeles will be a 4th grade adviser and P. E. coordinator for all grade levels.
Badilles taught at Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja on Rota and was a college professor for over five years in the Philippines. At GMS, he will be a 6th grade class adviser.
Eco-tourism
A TALK on “Eco-tourism — good for the CNMI?” will be presented by Stacey A. Tighe on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. at the American Memorial Park auditorium.
She will discuss costs and benefits of alternative options, and their compatibility, feasibility in the CNMI.
Tighe holds degrees in marine policy, biology and geology, and currently serves as senior regional coordinator and program integrator for U.S. support to the six countries of the Coral Triangle Initiative: Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
Free movie screening tonight
(DEQ) — It’s finally the weekend and what better way to kick it off then with a free film! Tonight, at 7 p.m., at the American Memorial Park Visitors Center, “First Friday Films” will be showing the award winning documentary “Sharkwater.”
“First Friday Films,” is a collaboration between the Division of Environmental Quality and American Memorial Park. It is a series of free environmental films that are open to the public and shown every first Friday of the month at the Visitor Center.
“Sharkwater” is a film documenting the exploitation and corruption surrounding the world’s shark populations and the effect on the ocean ecosystems by removing these important predators.
No cell phone use
(DPS) — Department of Public Safety Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela has issued a directive to all DPS employees, banning the use of cell phone and texting while driving a DPS government vehicle.
Anyone found in violation of this directive will be subjected to disciplinary action.
National strategy
HAGÅTÑA (U.S. Attorney’s office) – Following an announcement by Attorney General Eric Holder, Alicia A.G. Limtiaco, U.S. attorney for the Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, announced that the Department of Justice has released its first ever National Strategy for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction.
