Rauepi gets suspended sentence for theft

Assistant Attorney General William Downer prosecuted the case, while Assistant Public Defender Matthew Holley represented Rauepi who pleaded guilty to felony theft as part of a plea agreement.

The court dismissed with prejudice the remaining charges against the defendant.

On May 31, 2009, the prosecution said, Rauepi burglarized Dr. Calistro Camacho Cabrera’s house in Susupe, stealing a car, $23 cash, as well as house and car keys. He was later arrested.

Manglona also placed Rauepi on probation for five years under the direction and supervision of the Adult Probation Office.

The defendant will stay away from the residence of  Cabrera during the term of his probation and refrain from any contact with the victim.

He will pay restitution to Cabrera in the amount of $100, pay a $50 fine, a $100 court assessment fee within 30 days of his sentence, and an annual probation fee of $100.

He will perform 150 hours of community work service, write a letter of apology to Cabrera, and obey all CNMI and federal laws as well as the rules of the Adult Probation Office.
