Itaas lifts Wings past Magic, 79-78 in OT

Although the game went neck-and-neck from the start, the Wings were playing underdog with a one-point deficit at the end of the first quarter.

Magic’s Cabanas was bound to keep their lead with a three-pointer in the second quarter but there was enough time left for Wings’ Manolo Manalo to hit game-tying jumper to bring the game back to square one for the next half.

The Wings kept pace with the Magic in the third quarter until Amor Casabuena bombarded them with a pair of three-pointer to give Magic a six-point lead.

With Melvin Capalad’s three consecutive two-point shots, Magic was leading again in the fourth quarter. However, Leo Itaas poured in eight points including a three-pointer and R. Gamboa added six points to help Wings keep pace again with Magic.

Capalad rampaged inside the box hitting a two-pointer while picking up a foul. He made his penalty shot to inch Magic up with a few seconds left in the ball game.

Despite a couple of misses the Wings kept ball possession long enough to deal with a two-point deficit, then, Dayrit grabbed an offensive rebound went up for a basket and tied the ball game for an extra five minute game.

During an over time, Capalad led Magic’s offensive firing a couple of two-pointers and collected fouls to make three more points from the free throw line.

Bernadine Aquino surged to three consecutive two-pointers but the Wings managed to stay close with Dayrit hitting six and Itaas firing a three-pointer.

Aquino’s last two-pointer put Magic a breath away to victory but Itaas final jumper snatched it away, giving the Wings a 79-78 win.

Cargo Express 81, Brothers 66

White Capalad and Galulu scored 22 and 20 respectively leading Cargo Express to beat the Brothers.

Cargo Express bombarded the Brothers with long-range shots with D. Isip blasting twice from behind the arc, Arcangel and Capalad also hitting three-pointers apiece to set the lead in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, J. Detera’s two penalty shots handed the Brothers a one-point lead.

The game went deadlock in the third quarter as the Brothers J. Camacho and Express’ Capalad trading two-pointers.

Diyco hit two three-pointers, Cadag added a long-range shot and Arcangel made five penalty shots to stretch the lead and secured their victory.
