Camacho is no stranger to NMC, however. After leaving active duty in the U.S. Army in 1995, he taught history, political science, and criminal justice courses at the college while serving in the Army Reserve.
He also served as NMC’s institutional researcher and planner, the director for the college’s public safety and law enforcement programs, and its dean of continuing education.
His endeavors after leaving NMC led him to the posts of CNMI chief of police, commissioner of public safety, and then-Gov. Juan N. Babauta’s special assistant for military affairs.
Camacho’s extensive military background has helped him develop many of the skills he holds today. These include his strengths in strategic planning, team leadership, key relationship management, and policy design and implementation.
“I’m happy to be back here at NMC and to see all the new and familiar faces,” said Camacho. “I also look forward to working closely with students and guiding them to prepare for a successful career in criminal justice.”
Camacho, a decorated officer, received his bachelor’s in political science from the University of Guam and his master’s in national security affairs from the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. He also holds graduate and postgraduate level credits in educational leadership from San Diego State University.
Camacho took over the post left vacant by Judy Torres earlier this year.
