OMUB donates supplies to homebound patients

Homebound patients are those patients who are older, bed ridden and are cancer patients.

Joseph “Joe” Aitaro, chairman of the OMUB said the items donated included:adult diapers, wipes, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, ensure a nutritious supplemental drink, and canned goods, among others.

He said last July 16 the group has conducted a Homebound Community Drive; they solicited non- perishable foods items, personal hygiene and cash donations to the community.

Aitaro, however, said that the cash donations they collected were also used to purchase needed supplies by the patients.

Last year and this year, the Homebound Unit through Dr. Sylvia Osarch of the Ministry of Health approached OMUB in soliciting assistance for much needed supplies for homebound patients unable to afford basic hygiene needs due to the economic constraints of their family and the hardship the Republic is currently experiencing.

In Koror State alone there are more than ahundred homebound patients.

Aitaro said that with the donated items it will provide a short term relief for the families to recover financially in the hopes this will allow the continuum of care for their love ones.

The OMUB is a non-profit organization which actively serves in the community program.
