Major League Baseball at the Francisco Tanko M. Palacios Baseball Field last Wednesday.
The home plate stayed untouched in four straight innings as both teams suppressed each other with smothering defense both in the in-field and outfield.
Juan and Jesus Iguel caught fly balls and Pete Tomokane grabbed two ground outs that protected the first base to the Falcons scoreless up to the fourth inning.
The Falcons on the other hand, went for fly balls with Joshua Jones catching two, Jerro Jones one, and Darren Pua one. Joshua also foiled a line drive and grounder attempts in these four empty innings.
The scoring spree started in the top of the fifth inning when Joshua’s second grounder to the right field drove in a run. He repeated it for third time in the sixth inning before he walked in the eight to go 3-for-5. Mike Pangelinan hit an RBI single as well with a line drive to the left field.
The ball game heated up as Iguel rambled to the second base after firing a land drive to the right field sending Hector Efraim home. He stole the scoring base before Juan Iguel drove Pat Alepuyo home with a sacrifice fly and Celis drove Jesus in with a fatal grounder in the fifth.
Cliffton Siliil sent Kelvin Kapileo home on an error at the short stop, then, the Rangers were in the upper ground after five complete innings.
Joshua’s second ground hit in the sixth tied the game in the top of the sixth.
Jesus launched a run-scoring single facing two outs in the bottom of the sixth and Juan doubled him home to take the lead again.
The Rangers defensive mood is back in the top of the seventh to nail the Falcons to five runs all the way to the ball game.
Meanwhile, Shane Yamada rocketed the ball to the right field for a single to drive in a run, then, Iguel hit his second double, also hi fifth base hit in the game, and scored run on a passed ball.
Juan Iguel caught a fly ball, first baseman Efraim and third baseman Tomokane threw out two base runners to end the Falcons’ hope to recover.
