Yesterday, while driving by the Papago area, Camacho said he noticed that at least six warning devices installed by the road project contractor had been deliberately smashed.
“This is a very useful device. It guides motorists especially during night time,” he said.
He is urging motorists to report to the Department of Public Safety the person or persons who destroy traffic warning lights.
There will be an “accident waiting to happen” in the area without such devices, he said.
One of the prime movers of the Neighborhood Watch Task Force, Camacho said he is concerned about the safety of motorists.
Early this year, Hawaiian Rock started the construction on the back road improvement project from San Vicente to Capital Hill.
Hawaiian Rock safety coordinator Steve Dutro said they have already lost 12 traffic warning lights which cost $40 each.
Some of the traffic cones placed at the project site were also deliberately knocked down, he added.
They have already reported these incidents to the police, he said.
Before they start their daily work, he said, they always check if all the early warning devices are in their proper places.
