A request to the sea transportation office by the Department of Health has prompted the Department of Public Works and Transportation to postpone the trip to a date on which the Department of Health will be ready to join the other public services that will conducting government service throughout the neighboring islands during the trip.
This trip is for the distribution of 2nd and 3rd doses of the H1N1 vaccine in the neighboring islands of Yap.
The Department of Health is concerned that this may not be the right time for the Hapilmohol to depart as those staff members assigned to go out on the trip will be involved in the activities for the National Women’s Health Week, which ends just one day after the original schedule of the ship’s departure.
The Department of Health also requested that ample time be given to members of the health team so they can prepare all of the medicine supplies and needed equipment for the trip and secure them on board the vessel.
The Department of Education, the Office of Administrative Services, the Division of Contract Management, Department of Public Works and Sea Transportation and the Office of the National Weather Service will also be sending representatives.
