2 rob restaurant using wood, rock

Department of Public Safety spokesman PO2 Eric David said arrested were Eric Aguon, 18,  Choice A. Ray and the juvenile.

Aguon is being held on charges of armed robbery, theft, disturbing the peace, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Ray is charged with obstructing justice while the juvenile is charged with armed robbery, minor consuming alcohol, and curfew violation charges.

During Aguon’s initial appearance yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman raised to $30,000  the $15,000 cash bail initially set by Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo.

Wiseman directed Aguon not to have any contact with his defendants and the victim.

The court also imposed curfew hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Aguon, who was directed not to apply for a new passport or travel documents.

In his affidavit, Detective Roque K. Camacho said DPS dispatched Officer Anthony Kaipat at about 12:45 a.m. to a disturbance incident, later reclassified as an armed robbery, at the Chang Wong Restaurant on Beach Road in Chalan Kanoa, south of the intersection leading to  the post office.

The identities of Aguon and the juvenile were caught on the restaurant’s surveillance video.

Aguon was holding a piece of rock while the juvenile was holding a 2×2 piece of wood.

The suspects got $5 worth of coins and $20 from the restaurant owner, after threatening him with the piece of wood and rock.

David said the suspects were found and arrested at around 3:10 a.m.

“The arrestees were later transported to the Department of Corrections and Juvenile Detention Unit in Kagman,” he added.

Aguon told Officer Kaipat that they were “drinking hard liquor” with friends when the juvenile told him, Aguon, where they could “get cash.”

Authorities said the two walked toward Chang Won Restaurant, picking up a 2×2 piece of wood and rock along the way.

The juvenile went straight to the cash register while Aguon was the lookout, police said.

It was not mentioned what Ray’s role was in the robbery.
