This year’s district tournament which serves as the qualifying round for the Asia-Pacific regional tournament will be held from June 16 to 19 at the Tinian Sports Complex’s Baseball Field, according to district administrator James Ada.
The Little League teams from Saipan, Tinian and Rota in the major, junior, senior and big divisions will compete in the district tournament.
District tournaments, Ada explained is the prerequisite for all the Little League organizations to advance to the regional tournament as sanctioned and approved by the Little League International.
The CNMI district tournament’s schedule as submitted by Ada has been approved by regional director, BH Chow.
Saipan has 13 teams in the major league, eight in the junior league, six in the seniors’ and four in the big division.
Tinian on the other hand as four in the majors’ two in the senior league, two in the big league and has not team in the juniors.
The 2010 Little League district tournament organizing committee are composed of Tinian Little League tournament director, Ike Aquiningoc, hosting committee Lydia Barcinas, umpire coordinator, Joe Kiyoshi, logistics for Tinian,
Kimberly Hinds, grounds crew Frank Dela Cruz, table officials, Joe Lizama, AJ Murig, Lynn Duenas (junior, senior, big) Mike Borja, Walter Macaranas and Piding Tenorio (majors).
The technical committee is headed by Tony Rogolifoi and the logistics is Rose Igitol.
